The situation: White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski is up to bat, swings at strike 3 which is low. Angels C Josh Paul dribbles the ball to the mound, thinking the inning is over, and he heads to the dugout. Pierzynski starts to go to his dugout, but after a short delay, begins running to first. No throw is made, and Pierzynski is safe at first. Controversy ensues.
The opinion: If Josh Paul was competent, he would’ve tagged the guy with the ball or thrown to first to confirm the out. Instead, he tosses the ball to the mound while the ball is still live. Oops. Blame the umps all you want, being a good baseball player means not letting this shit happen. Slops to Josh Paul.
